Adult Parishioner: At Large

Election Breon Haskett.jpgBreon Haskett I am a devoted husband and father of three.  I retired from the U.S. Marine Corp and have been a member of Transfiguration since 2002.  I hold a Bachelors degree in Business Admin, Masters in Organizational Behavior and PhD in Education.  I’ve served as PAC president, on the strategic planning committee and as coordinator of the Nicaragua mission trip and 5K race.  I also served on the parish staff as the youth minister.  I received the Pastor’s award for my work in youth ministry and small faith sharing group planning process.  I believe in the joy that comes from the commitment to God’s will and the power that comes from the special presence of Christ in the Eucharist.  My experiences leading organizations through change and crafting coherent strategic visions will be invaluable to our parish in this great time of opportunity.  If elected, I look forward to what I can offer the PAC committee and our Church community.

Election Terry Jansen.jpgTerry Jansen -  I have been a member since 1979.  I am active in the Holy Name Ministry, Friendship Circle, Social Committee, Widows Web and PAC.  I love this church and want to do everything I can to help it succeed.  I am involved in PAC now on the Pastoral Plan and want to continue to see it come to fruition in the coming year.  Therefore, I ask  for your vote during this election.

Election Mark Turpin.jpgMark Turpin I have been a parishioner since 1997.  My wife Tracy and I have been married for 32 years and have 2 adult children.  I’ve lived in Cobb County for most of my life.  I have witnessed the growth in our Catholic Community and recognize and value my call to serve our growing community.  I have been involved in many ministries at Transfiguration.  I participated in the University of Dayton Youth Ministry Certification program and am a Certified Youth Minister and Catechist.  I currently serve as a Catechist for the Adult BRITE program, have been actively involved with  ChrisTeen since 2005, and serve as one of the adult coordinators for the Antioch Confirmation retreat.  I have attended 3 mission trips for Catholic Heart Workcamp and have served as the head biscuit cook for several years for the biscuit fundraiser.  My wife and I have been involved with the marriage prep program for 17 years and I serve as a Eucharistic Minister and closed POD volunteer.  In my spare time time, I enjoy participating in soccer, bowling, tennis and golf.  I have been involved with computer software and technology for over 30 years.  As a member of PAC, I feel I can utilize my experience and skills to further improve upon our technological capabilities and hope that my past service experiences can provide useful input to existing and new programs in order to help our community thrive into the future.

Adult  Parishioner: 5+ Years in Parish

Election Gerry DeFilippo.jpgGerry (Gary) DeFilippo -  Transfiguration has been a part of my life since 1993,  and I became Catholic through the OCIA program here in 1998.  I presently serve our community as a sound technician, Lector at Noon Mass, and as a member of the Lingap Committee.  Having built relationships at different periods through being a choir member, catechists, mentor, OCIA sponsor, and other church activities, I believe I will bring a broad perspective of stewardship, a passion for worship, and a deep love of our faith to the Pastoral Advisory Council.  I hope to aid in prayerfully shaping our present and ensuring that we pass on to future generations the rich blessing that we have received.

Election Lynn Hinchey.jpgLynn Hinchey - I have been a member of Transfiguration for 13 years.  I became involved with the Youth Ministry Board 6 years ago and have served as Adult Chair for the last 2 years.  I have been a 10th grade catechist for 3 years, gone on several mission trips including Nicaragua, volunteered at St. Francis Table, participated in Starve Wars and helped parishioners through Hands On Transfiguration.  I am also a mother to three very special kids and married to the most incredible man.  I would be very humbled and honored to have a chance to serve my parish family on the Pastoral Advisory Council.

Election Robert Kerris.jpgBob Kerris - I have been a member of Transfiguration for 15 years, having moved my family into the Marietta area in 2003 from New Jersey.  After trying a few different parishes in the area, we became very fond of the vibrant and joyful spirit at Transfiguration.  I treasure the fellowship, uplifting experiences, and most importantly, the meaningful mass celebrations experienced at our wonderful church.  I am a Certified Public Accountant and have practiced in senior financial management roles for over 35 years.  Also, I am a die-hard Atlanta Falcons fan!  My interest in becoming a member of the Pastoral Advisory Council is motivated by my desire to participate actively, from a lay advisory/consultative perspective, in discussions and decisions affecting our church community and life, both presently and in the future.

Election Erica Lumpert.jpgErica Lumpert - I have been a parishioner for 19 years.  I am married to Daniel and we have two children.  I am also a  small business owner. When I first attended Transfiguration I was overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness and I knew that this parish would be our new home.  Over the years I have served on the Arts and Environment Committee.  I am currently serving as a Minister of Caring, Eucharistic Minister, and a member of the Liturgical Advisory Council.  Four years ago, I was trained as a member of a Sunday Mass team.  Since then I have been proud to volunteer alongside some amazing parishioners.  This time at church brings a peace to me that is undeniable and I am most happy when I am able to serve God in this way.  I feel that if elected to the Pastoral Advisory Council, I will be able to work with our pastor and fellow parishioners to continue to ensure Transfiguration is a parish for all people.

Election Ben Mancuso.jpgBen Mancuso - I have been a member of Transfiguration for 16 years, since we moved to the Atlanta Area in 2002, and have served as a Lector for all 16 years.  I have been married to my wife Yukiko for 28 years and we are the proud parents of two Eagle Scouts who are both in college.  I have worked for IBM for 33 years, owned a business, have been a financial advisor and now serve as a Customer Rep for ACI of Kennesaw.  The wisdom and knowledge I have obtained from my experiences make me uniquely capable to serve our Transfiguration community as a PAC representative.

Election Chris Offen.jpgChris Offen - I have been a parishioner since 1998.  I have been active in many ways including being a co-leader of the “Christ Have Mercy Retreat” in 2016, “Making Room at the Table” in 2017 and “Metanoia” in 2018.  I have also led the 2017 & 2018 “Refugee Welcoming Weekend.”   Since 2015 I have been the leader of the Catholic Social Teaching ministry, which sponsors a series of monthly discussions lead by outside speakers on relevant and timely topics that fall under our ministry’s name.  I am retired and sit on the Board of Directors for the non profit organization “Bridging the Gap Africa”, which builds bridges across rivers in Central Africa to save lives of people in local communities.  I am interested in taking my commitment at Transfiguration to the next level and contend for a position on the Pastoral Advisory Council.  I have held a similar position at a previous parish and believe that my business career skills could assist the parish in its path forward.  I hope that you will prayerfully consider my candidacy.

Adult Parishioner: 5 + Years in Parish

Election Robert Tipton.jpgRob Tipton -  My wife Erin and I were married at Transfiguration in 1997 and have been members for over 20 years.   Erin and I are the parish contacts for World Wide Marriage Encounter. We have raised three beautiful children through PREP and ChrisTeen, and the two boys have been active members on the Peer Ministry Board.  I want to say that serving on the Youth Ministry Board would set an excellent example for my kids; but the truth is that my boys have been setting the example for me with their involvement in church.  I have experienced my children blossom through ChrisTeen, and I recently chaperoned a youth mission trip to Nicaragua, and to NCYC.  I feel I have a lot to give back to our church family and can’t think of a better way than to minister future generations of teens as a member of YMB.
