Ministers of Caring are individuals/couples who visit the sick in their homes during their recovery period as well take Communion to residents in nursing homes, local hospitals, and private homes.
All Ministers of Caring must meet the following criteria:
a. Must have received the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.
b. If married, must be in a valid Church marriage.
c. Complete all the required volunteer forms, including a background check, and viewing the You Matter video.
The parish office maintains a book of those who are hospitalized, homebound, or in nursing homes.
a. Hospital visits:
(1) Ministers of Caring visit Kennestone Hospital every day except Saturday.
b. Nursing homes, assisted living facilities, retirement homes, etc.:
(1) Ministers of Caring visit nursing home residents weekly.
(a) A Mass is offered at Heritage Retirement Home on the first Thursday of each month.
c. Home visits:
(1) Ministers of Caring visit homebound parishioners, or their family members, weekly or monthly depending on the family’s request.
d. Substitutes: When possible, if a Minister of Caring cannot keep his/her weekly commitment, a substitute visitor can be identified.
